Soccer

Since the middle of the 1950s, competitions such as the AFC Asian Cup (AC) and AFC Champions League (ACL) have led to a surge in football exchanges between overseas countries and Australia, propelling the popularity of soccer in Australia and making local Australian soccer more prevalent on the international stage.

Tony Farrugia, the CEO of Eclipse Management and former general manager of the South Australian Soccer Federation, possesses close connections within the global football community, notably with Japanese J-League teams and the Japan Football Association (JFA). For over a decade, we have closely collaborated with Eclipse Sports Management and Tony, drawing on our extensive experience hosting J-League, Japanese National, and Olympic teams. Together, we have curated tailored soccer training camps for youth, university, and professional teams.

Over the past ten years, Australia has emerged as the preferred training camp destination for overseas football teams, especially Japanese professional teams. This preference is attributed to the country's ideal climate, world-class facilities, and a safe environment.

Soccer Season

As Australia is situated in the Southern Hemisphere, soccer is considered a ‘summer sport’. A-League games for women and men at junior or senior levels are generally played over the summer months from October - May, however soccer training camps can be planned throughout the year.

Climate

Australia’s climate varies greatly throughout the six states and two territories, primarily due to the vast size of the continent. Across majority of the country there are four seasons, with two seasons, wet and dry, in the northern part of Australia.

As a result of Australia’s varying climatic conditions and opposite seasonality to the northern hemisphere, it is the ideal destination for international soccer teams to conduct / plan a training camp during the off-season. Australia has a variety of locations to suit the needs of the team or individual athletes and the timing of the camp. Summer from (December – February) is considered the best time of year to visit Australia.

Facilities

Australia has several world-class, multi-functional venues regularly used by national teams for training or matches. Each state and territories soccer federation has premier venues with FIFA standard football pitches suitable for youth to high-performance teams.

Each soccer clinic will be conducted by a team of fully qualified and experienced coaches registered with their respective football federations and can be tailored to the needs of the team or individual athletes.

Upon request we can arrange a practice match against a team of the desired level. Each match will be officiated by qualified referees/umpires using international rules, however this can be changed upon request.
